November Fishing in Freeport: Redfish and Trout, Flounder Closed
November fishing in Freeport stays strong inshore for redfish and speckled trout even as the first hard fronts arrive. Flounder are fully closed to harvest November 1 through December 14, so plan around reds and trout in the bays, passes, and the warming back-water channels.
November keeps the fall inshore bite going. Redfish remain the headliner, holding around the jetties, passes, and bayou drains, while speckled trout stay productive on the flats between fronts. The bull red run tapers this month, and reds consolidate into the deeper main bayous on the low winter tides, which sets up good sight-fishing on clear, calm days. As cold fronts begin stacking up, fish start sliding toward the deeper, more stable water; on the warm days before a front, the feed can be excellent.
Take note of the flounder rules this month. Flounder harvest is fully closed from November 1 through December 14 to protect the fall spawning run; no flounder may be taken by any method during that window, so target reds and trout instead. Always confirm the current bag and size limits in the TPWD fishing regulations.
Offshore opportunities dwindle as the weather windows shrink, so November is largely an inshore month. Fish the bay channels and protected shorelines on the calm days, and let the wind dictate the schedule. A local charter captain will know which channels are holding fish after each front.
